White Water Rafting
River rafting is a popular activity in Sabie and close to Hazyview. Enjoy 20 exhilarating rapids (grade 2 to 3) surrounded by indigenous forest in 2 man inflatable “croc rafts”. Grab the opportunity to get close to the many bird species that inhabit the riverine area. Life jackets and helmets and all other safety equipment are provided. Induna’s 8km route is forgiving to the novice, yet accommodating to the thrill seeker. Expect to start early by 9am or 10am to experience 3-4 hour rafting trips or full day adventures by arrangement. Best enjoyed in summer when the river water peaks but available year-round. A DVD recording of your quest along the rapids is an optional extra. Group sizes may be up to 20 people.
White Water Tubing – Geckoing
White Water Tubing, aka “Geckoing”, is one of the ultimate things to do near Hazyview, takes place on the upper Sabie River, where the scenery is spectacular and the rush of rapids is exhilarating. An experienced guide leads all trips on specially designed tubes. Specially designed tubes, manufactured by “ARK” are used. Life jackets, helmets, trained river guides and light refreshments are provided. Ideally enjoyed in the summer, wetsuits are available for rental during winter months. Trips usually commence in the morning from 9am or 10am and the excursion time is approx. 4-hours. A high adrenalin activity for swimmers only! A maximum of 25 people can be taken in a group.
Abseiling
Induna Adventures offer abseiling which takes place from a massive granite outcrop, between Hazyview and the Kruger Park in the Kruger Lowveld. The site offers spectacular views across the Lowveld, Sabie River and Kruger National Park, elevated well above the surrounding area, which makes “going over the edge” a breathtaking experience! A minimum of 2 abseils per person are undertaken. The rate includes the transfer from the Induna Adventures to the abseil site and return. At least 4 people are needed to book this activity – enquire ahead to check availability.
Archery
“Long Bows” are fairly easy to use. Explore the art of archery in an exciting and fun way. Several people can play at the same time allowing for target games. Great for teambuilding as well as families. We provide bows, arrows, butts and a guide to facilitate the archery experience. Depending on the group’s size, it takes about 1.5 hours per group. The guide will facilitate the archery experience not only by giving advice on how to shoot, but also introducing games to make it exciting and enjoyable.
Elephant Interaction
Elephant Interaction and rides are available at Elephant Whispers in Hazyview, located on the banks of the Sabie River, next to the Hippo Hollow Hotel on the R40. This is a personable and informative encounter with tamed and trained elephants. The Elephant Whispers Interaction lasts approx. 1 hour and you will look at and meet with the elephants. If you wish to meet with and ride on elephant back as well, be sure to request in advance the Interaction and Ride, allowing 1 hour and 30 minutes for the total experience. The scheduled interactions run daily at 9am, 12 midday and 4pm. Please note that bookings are essential, particularly in busy seasons and over long weekends.
